Privacy policy
Effective 18 October 2026
Hush Hour: White Noise & Sleep is a sleep sound app for Android made by Marko Zanoski. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: the app sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no advertising, no analytics and no server of ours, and the app does not use the internet at all.
What stays on your phone
- Your settings. Your choices in the app, such as the theme, the timer, the fade and the sound options, kept in the app's own storage so the app remembers them.
- Your mixes. The sounds and levels you play, and the mixes you save with the names you give them.
That is all the app keeps, and it never leaves your phone. The app does not listen to you, record anything or track your sleep. If Android backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include these settings and mixes in your own Google account backup, under Google's privacy policy, so they come back on a new phone. We cannot see that backup.
What leaves your phone
Nothing is sent by the app. It does not ask for internet access, so it cannot send anything anywhere. It works fully offline. The links in Settings to the user guide, the report page and this policy open in your browser, outside the app.
Permissions
The app asks for two small things, and nothing else.
- Play in the background (foreground service, media playback). So the sound keeps playing with the screen off, with a notification that shows what plays and lets you pause or stop it.
- Keep the phone awake (wake lock). Only while sound plays, so Android does not cut it off when the screen is off. It is let go when the sound stops.
The app does not ask for internet access, location, camera, microphone, contacts, notifications permission or health data.
What we do not do
- No accounts and no sign in.
- No ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics, crash reporting or tracking libraries.
- No sleep tracking, no microphone and no location.
- No selling or sharing of data, because we do not collect any.
Payments
Hush Hour is bought through Google Play. Google handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We receive no card details and no personal data from that purchase beyond what Google Play shows every developer in aggregate sales reports.
This website
This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no outside fonts or scripts. The sound previews load from this site only when you tap one. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps short server logs to run and protect the service.
Reports on GitHub
If you choose to report a bug or ask for a feature on our GitHub page, what you write there is public and handled by GitHub under its own privacy policy. You can write to us by email instead.
Children
Hush Hour is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal data from anyone.
Deleting your data
Everything Hush Hour keeps is on your phone. To remove it, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. There is nothing on our side to delete.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
